First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, received here today the President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki.
GSA Deputy Chairman, HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and CEO, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, in addition to the Advisor for the Development of School Sports at the Ministry of Education, Shaikh Saqr bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences, Dr. Leena Khonji, were present.
HH Shaikh Khalid welcomed UoB President, and expressed pride in UoB’s interest in supporting sports events and programmes in order to achieve partnership and cooperation in boosting the sports sector in the kingdom.
HH Shaikh Khalid discussed with UoB President ways to develop the academic curricula of the Department of Physical Education of the College of Health and Sport Sciences, in line with the policies adopted by the General Sports Authority, and in order to enhance GSA-UoB cooperation to develop the national sports system.
HH Shaikh Khalid gave directives to UoB President to provide full support for UoB’s administrative and technical sports cadres, as well as to athletes from UoB students during their participation in sports events with clubs and national teams, which will motivate them to perform well and achieve the best results at various competitions.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad congratulated the Advisor for the Development of School Sports at the Ministry of Education following his appointment to his post, wishing him every success in carrying out the tasks entrusted to him.
HH Shaikh Khalid also gave directives to continue following up on the project to develop sports curricula at schools, based on the recommendations of the cooperation committee between the GSA and the Ministry of Education.
